Circular Scrubby

I have been making "gifts for the future" and thought this scrubby was an easy gift to make.
http://tankhouse.knitability.com/freepatterns/DishClothDuo.pdf
The yarn is Lily Sugar'n Cream in Summer Splash and did not take that much. It is smaller than I would want it and may cast on more or add more rows for the next one.
This is what it looks like when you are done with knitting.
Scrubby is seamed together from cast on and bind off edge.

Knitted Hedgehog

I found this cute knitted hedgehog pattern on Etsy this past weekend. The yarns I used were:
Body: Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" in brown tweed
Face and feet: Caron "Simply Soft" in bone
Nose: Red Heat Sport in Black
I woke up Ace for the photo shoot and he was not too happy!

Big Bang Theory- Sheldon

I have been wanting to make some quoted embroidery projects for my friends and made this one for an engineering cubical. It is a quote from the TV show The Big Bang Theory. The man on the right is Sheldon Cooper. I used Photoshop and made an outline of his face. I got the idea from my endless hours on craftster.org.

The quote says: Engineering: Where the noble, semi-skilled laborers execute the vision of those who think and dream. Hello, Oompa Loompas of science!

Here is a close up on his face.

Charlie grocery bag

I have been wanting to make fabric grocery bags for a while and found this great pattern on burdastyle.com. It is a free pattern but you do have to have an account to view it. The instructions were not that good but I looked at the comments and used my common purse making skills to complete it. I liked this pattern becuase it had a pouch were you can keep it folded up when not using it. The picture below shows it folded up.
Here is the picture of hanging. The back of the bag is just a brown peice of material.

My only complaint is surging around the edges. I am just not good at serging on a curve and cutting off 5/8'' at the same time. I am going to fold it in and sew around to make it look better and last longer. It seems a little big but was great on my trip to Target today.
I am going to make more with an apple and pear material I got.

Knit dress update

I finished the dress a week ago. I got mixed up with the pattern and forgot to put the pockets in and the tie in the back when I was sewing up the sides.
The neck did not turn out how I liked it so I am debating on ripping it out and trying not to stretch it out when sewing. I am going to try to wear it with a tank top under it before ripping out. I did not use the recommended fabric and knew it may end up not right.
Here is the finish product.

Knit dress

I got a great knit dress at Macy's a few weeks ago. Luckily it was on sale but still was more than I wanted to pay. I found a New Look pattern at Jo-Ann's. I am going to make the pink dress she is

I had a hard time finding a printed knit fabric that was not too expensive but did find one in clearance. It has bright colored shells with a hint of glitter on the white part. Who knows how long the glitter will last. The background is a blue purple color.

I hope this dress turns out good becuase I would want more of these.

LB- Bright Baby Tank Top

I have a surplus of Lion Brand Incredible ribbon yarn in City Lights because of Dollar Tree. With Wal-Mart changing the layout and downsizing their craft department I have been trying to craft with what I have. I found the pattern for a baby tank top from the Lion Brand website and made it in 2 days. I am trying to stock up on baby gifts for the future.

Bowtie was nice enough to model the new tank top. I had to make a cat toy for him so he would not destroy the tank when I was knitting it.

The pattern was easy to make and great for a starting project. It seems a little short for a baby but if you do make it measure. I am going to be brave and start on the matching cardigan.

Disney Craft Swap

I have met the perfect craft website/forum called Craftster! I am glad I just found it and not when I was younger. They have every type of craft you can do and also the fun part of it they have craft swaps. If you are ready for the challenge there are requirements for just signing up but once you are a member for 1 month and post 15 times you can! I signed up for the Disney craft swap and had the best swap partner. I had to make 1 large, 1 medium and 2-3 smalls. She liked the movie Fox and the Hound and sent a picture of what she liked. I knew I wanted to copy that onto a tote bag but did not know how I would do it. I could paint it but I was without my paints and did not have the T-Shirt transfer paper from the computer. I decided that I would have to embroiderer it on. I saw a picture of Tinkerbell and this was how I was going to do it.

With the picture from the movie I had another problem picking what lines to use for the simple outline or what color. I found the thick green fabric on sale so that was the start and decided on a tan and brown floss. With all of the supplies I had to pick what size of a bag and embroidery the picture on the fabric before I sewed the bag up. This was my first embroidery project but had a good idea on how to do it. I researched and caught up with a stitch dictionary and knew most of them or had an idea on how do to it. I used the split stitch for most of the bag and loved the results. With the other stitches you use a lot of floss in the back.

This is the finished bag that I made. I have finally figured out how to do lined bags and pockets from help with the Buttercup Bag pattern.
I also took the plunge and learned how to sew a bag with a zipper using that tutorial. I also embroidered something on both sides. One is a picture of Tinkerbell and on the other side was a head of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

One of the items she made me was this cross stitch hedgehog for Ace. Here is the photo with it!

Now that I have finished one swap I can sign up for 5 more but not going to get too over my head.

Crochet doughnut pincushion

I have been trying to think of an idea for a new pincushion. I saw a picture of a doughnut pincushion online and had to make one. Luckily we had some Lion Brand Microspun yarn in Mocha and I had some leftover Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn in Over the Rainbow for the frosting. The pattern is free from Lion Brand Yarn.

I had to take the last row out of the frosting becuase I do not understand how to half double crochet in a circle and also the frosting covered the doughnut too much. I am very happy with the frosting color pattern and know Homer would be proud! This pattern is only good for small amount of pins. I am already thinking about a second pincushion. Its good to have two one at the sewing machine and the other at the ironing board.

Amigurumi Penguin

I am finally starting this blog about my creative life.
My first amigurumi is this cute penguin. I got this free crochet pattern for Lion Brand Yarn. I used a sport weight yarn to create my cute Tux.

The picture is very red from the couch. I am still trying to figure out my new camera.
